How do I use the ceramic bulb?
Plug it into any standard US socket such as E26 or E27 which can be found in almost any home. Make sure you use the bulb only in a ceramic/porcelain socket. You can purchase heat lamps that come with a heat shield deflector and bulb guard to prevent anyone scalding or burns.
What is the ideal tank size for this bulb?
Ideally these bulbs will heat a 30-40 gallon tank very well. You can use them in a slightly bigger tanks as well.
Is this a far-infrared or near-infrared emitting bulb?
It's far-infrared emitting heat bulb which produces long waves. It does not give off any visual light, only heat, so it can be used day and night without disturbing animals' sleep.
How much heat does the SunGrow Heat Emitter generate?
Within around 10-seconds, they can generate basking temperatures in the high 30's or even low 40's.
Can I use this with a thermostat or timer?
Yes you can purchase thermostats separately, which can be connected to the infrared bulb. This will ensure you do not overheat small spaces which can be very dangerous for your pets. You can also wire the bulb to a dimmer or timer.
Can I use the bulb outdoors?
Yes! Many people use these bulbs in cold climates to heat small dog houses, cat houses, outdoor rabbit hutches, chicken coops, pet brooders, puppy whelping box, hedgehog cages, egg incubators and many more!
